SAMAÏA, it’s three voices that mingle without ever touching. Offering a polyphonic creation from anonymous songs, the Samaïa trio creates a sound of its own, woven of fine harmonies, drones, polyrhythm or unisons.
Their voices, solidly anchored in the earth, reinvent traditional Eurasian stories.
Their repertoire draws on the traditions dear to the three singers and highlights the regional languages of France (Occitan, Breton) and Europe as well as the Middle East.
An explosive cocktail is born from the meeting of their three careers: Eléonore Fourniau, specialized in Kurdish and Anatolian music, Noémie Nael, French songwriter and Luna Silva, singer-songwriter of folk-world music of Anglo-Spanish origin.

On June 25, on the occasion of the pilgrimage of Saint John and in order to celebrate the arrival of summer, Prieuré de Saint-Jean-de-Garguier invites the students of IIWM to perform for an open air concert. The Chinese zither will be honored with the class of Sissy ZHOU, teacher in GU ZHENG, and the class of “Arab-Andalusian” music in the presence of Fouad DIDI, great master of this repertoire.

Here we are this time in a real living room, somewhere in the enchanted palace of a Maharaja from northern India. Throughout the concert resonate the enchanting accents of a voice, a sitar and a tabla. They accompany the graceful and elegant evolutions of the classical dancer Maitryee Mahatma. With her, let’s discover the world of Kathak dance and the mysteries of a magical world populated by Hindu gods and heroes. A dance that is prayed. A sensuality of movements and rhythms that touches the spiritual.

Zé Boiadé draw their language on French music, choro, samba and Northeastern Brazilian rhythms. Tiny bit Dadaist, they play with decomposing and deconstructing sounds and rhythms just as if music was a patchwork, thus making a unique kind of music and tearing down the barriers between erudite music and popular music. The four skillful musicians can sing and play different instruments such as the seven-string guitar, the ten-string Northeastern viola, the trombone, the melodica, the cavaquinho, the mandolin, and a large range of percussions: pandeiro, congas, udu, triangle, kes kes… By digging deep into traditions, Zé Boiadé freely tends towards a unique and characteristic creation, alternately danceable or contemplative, skipping the frevo and the caboclinho to suddenly plunge the audience into the heart of a song in French or Portuguese.
