PURPOSE
During a period of five days, we will decode the different musical styles of Argentinian music. The approach to Tango del Río de la Plata, the milonga and also some song-forms of Argentinian folklore, including thematics of texts. We will experiment a voyage to a universe of great musical richness and contrast of emotions. To sing this music is to express yourself from the essence, to feel the force of melodies from the earth. We will sing a repertoire with chosen compositions in advance. This workshop includes vocal technique, individual and group repertoire and final concert of participants.
GENERAL CONTENT
- Vocal technique: group and individual work on breathing, breath management, vocal warm-up, through the Spanish vowels. Work on consonants.
- Work on rhythms, tango for dancing
- Work on the phonetics and diction of texts
- Conference on the origins of Tango, its evolution and the tango song
- Introduction to Argentinean folk music
- Analysis of differet versions of a tango and its text
PRE-REQUISIT
This workshop is suited for any person with a minimum experience in singing and in Spanish language, that is interested in tango repertoire and Argentinian folklore.

Author, composer, interpreter, Cristina Vilallonga expresses herself through different musical genres (song, chamber music, orchestral music, opera) influenced by jazz and tango while showing a great creative freedom. A vital creative impulse which seduces by its capacity to give life to a personal and authentic musical universe.
With her original compositions, carried by a sophisticated and timeless sound, she tells stories with a very personal poetic expression, whether through her songs or her instrumental pieces.
Both singer and composer, for Cristina Vilallonga music is one. Driven by the pleasure of inventing, she chooses to engage in musical adventures without barriers, in order to create her own language.
